Dolores B. Edeen Stanaway died peacefully with her family by her side on Thurs. November 13, 2014 at Diamond Willow in Mountain Iron. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Thomas (Buster) Stanaway.
Dolores was born on August 12, 1931, in Newfolden to Fritz and Doris (Hanson) Edeen. Dolores lived a full life. Growing up on a farm in Newfolden, MN she raised her goats, milked the cows and drove her tractor. Bemidji’s Teacher’s College was her next step, earning her teaching license which she used for many years starting in Strandquist with a stop in Tower, Soudan and ending in Eveleth, MN.
Other adventures Dolores partook in were having a seat for 18 years on the Eveleth School Board, volunteering for any group who needed her help, selling World Book Encyclopedias, Nikken Magnetic products and the Welcome Wagon ambassador to the Iron Range as well as her home. Dolores loved to nurture her gardens, bake yummy treats, can her veggies and feed anyone who showed up at dinner time!
Dolores is survived by her 6 loving children, Valerie (Denny) Lundberg, Becky Sherek, Debbie (Paul) Schwalba, Neil (Cindy) Stanaway, Brenda (Chuck) Jensen, and Chad Stanaway; 13 grandchildren, Jessica (Brandon), Andrew, Alan, Nicholas, Kasey, Lucas, Sarah, Elliott, Noelle, Abrielle, Heather and Tommy; 2 great-grandchildren, Ava and Ian and siblings, Gale (Beatrice) Edeen, Beverly (Gary) Edland, and Fern (John David) Moore.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sibling Archie.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at United in Christ Lutheran Church, Eveleth. Rev. Roger Johnson of First Covenant Church, Virginia will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before at the church. Interment will be in Eveleth Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home, Eveleth.
