Jesse Ray Cohn, JR, 81
Jesse Ray Coan, Jr. was born on Feb. 1, 1933 in Sycamore, IL. He was the second of three
children of Jesse and Rose Coan. He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1951 and the
University of Colorado in 1955.
Jesse married Delores Haugen (deceased) on Jan 11, 1953. They had two sons: Kevin
(Deborah) Coan, Vernon, CT, and Kenneth (Kori) Coan (Kenneth deceased), Sanford, FL.
Jesse is survived by four grandchildren: Rachael (John) Wilson, Nazareth, PA, Caleb
(Vanessa) Coan, Berlin, CT, and June and Joy Coan, Riverside, RI; three great grandchildren,
Abigail, Ethan and Micah Wilson, Nazareth, PA. and two sisters, Ruth (John) Craig, Dekalb,
IL, and Nancy Wagoner, of Sycamore, IL
Jesse started work at Astra-Zeneca in Mass. He and Delores moved to Baudette in 1979 to
head up the marketing program for Rowell Laboratories. After a merger with Reid Provident
they moved to Atlanta in 1985. The company was acquired by Solvay,from where he retired
as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Jesse and Delores moved to Leesburg,FL for their
retirement.
He was a devoted father, which was a challenging job due to his extensive travels. He taught
his sons not to be judgmental, and always to be able to understand the beliefs of others. He
saw to it that his sons received a Christian upbringing in the Lutheran Church.
Jesse was always active in the church. He sang in church choir and served on the church
council. He enjoyed golf and watching football. His favorite team was the Denver Broncos.
Jesse went home to be with the Lord after choking on a piece of food. He subsequently went
into cardiac arrest passing away on October 21, 2014.
