Gary R. Emerson, 72

Gary R. Emerson, age 72 of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
         Gary Ray Emerson was born on August 29, 1942 in Fargo, ND the son of Gordon and Donna (Edington) Emerson.  Gary grew up in Minneapolis, and Crookston, MN where he graduated from Crookston Central High School with the Class of 1960.  He married Thea Ronglie.  Following his high school graduation he then attended the University of North Dakota where he studied business.  He married Maureen O’Connell.  He lived in Crookston, MN where he owned and operated Emerson Insurance Co.  In 1987 he opened Emerson Music in East Grand Forks.  In 1997 he focused on the installation of Sound Systems.  Gary played in numerous bands including The Checkers, The Charms, The New Salvation Army Band, the Maury Finney and the Reedsong Music Co., and The DuWayne Heyd Show and many more.  Gary was inducted into the Minnesota Rock Country Hall of Fame in 2007 for his involvement with The Charms.
         Family members of Gary include his children, Dayton (Meg) Emerson of West Lake Village, CA, Brian (Stephanie) Emerson of Granite Falls, MN and Tracy (Dan) Carlson of Minneapolis, MN; three grandchildren; and his significant other, Gail Sondreal of Climax, MN.
         He is preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Tiffany Dawn Emerson.
Funeral Service:  10:30 AM on Friday, February 13, 2015 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1515 5th Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN.
Visitation:  5:00 to 7:00 with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service on Thursday, February 12, 2015 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1515 5th Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN and also one hour prior Funeral Service on Friday.
Interment:  Oakdale Cemetery ~ Crookston, MN in the Spring of 2015.
