James Arthur Hasson, 87

James Arthur Hasson was born on April 25, 1927 in Heriem Twp, Roseau County, MN to Russell Hassan and Benna (Pulczinski) Hasson.  He was Baptized and Confirmed in the Catholic faith at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush and attended school in Greenbush, MN and Warsaw, ND.  Following school he worked in and around the Greenbush community until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1946 where he served as a Paratrooper until his discharge in 1947.  James then worked Road Construction for Herbert Reese for a number of years and then went on to work for Sellin Bros. Inc. out of Hawley, MN. until 1975.  James was united in marriage to Margaret Mellas at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Leo, MN on January 14, 1952 and the two made their home in Greenbush.  James went to work in Prudhoe Bay, AK in 1975 where he worked on the Alaska Pipeline for 2 years and then returned to work at Sellin Bros. where he worked until his retirement.  After retiring he went to work farming for Kevin and Vern Langaas of Greenbush where he worked for many years.  James passed away on February 7, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 13 days.
James was a lifelong member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush, member of the Greenbush American Legion post #88, as well as a member of the 49ers and Teamsters Union.
He enjoyed gardening, farming, hunting, fishing, and feeding his birds.
James is survived by his wife Marge of 63 years, 8 children: Doug (Gwen) Hasson of Roseau, Dwight (Darcy) Hasson, Lynn Hasson, Patrick Hasson of Greenbush, Dawn (Doug) Becker of East Bethel, MN, Tracy (LR) Walker of Trevor, WI, Bobbi (Jeff) Jenson, Tanya (Todd) Gjovik of Greenbush; Joleah Hasson of Greenbush, 21 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son Scott Hasson, 1 daughter Elise Hasson, and 1 Grandson Brady Hasson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenbush with Fr. Luis Buitron presiding.  Organist will be Jeanne Novacek and the Song Leader will be Darcy Hasson.  Eucharistic Ministers are Robert and Patti Truscinski and Gift Bearers are James’ grandchildren and great grandchildren and Readers are Lindsay Boyum and Brittney Hasson-Burkel.  John Wilebski III will be the Altar Server.  Honorary Bearers are all of James’ grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Interment services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Greenbush.
Military Honors are accorded by the Greenbush American Legion Post #88 and “Taps” played by James’ granddaughter Nicole Hasson.
