Maryann Baldwin, 88

Maryann Baldwin passed away on February 8, 2015 at the Sanford Hospital in Bemidji, MN at the age of 88.

Mary Ann was born on January 18, 1927 in Sioux City, Iowa to Harold and Lucettie Watson.  She grew up in Sioux City, IA and St. Paul, MN.  She and Marvin “Wes” Baldwin were married on November 17, 1945 at the Ft. Snelling Chapel.  They moved to Baudette, MN in 1946, after Wes’ discharge and lived along the Bankton Trail in Swiftwater Township. 

Maryann worked as a toll taker on the International Bridge for the Village of Baudette and later the State of Minnesota.  She enjoyed crafts of all kinds and was a member of the Wednesday evening “get-togethers” of her fellow crafters.  Following Wes’ stroke in 1992, they sold the farm and moved into Baudette, where she has resided since.

Maryann was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary and was a past President of the VRW Auxiliary.

 She is survived by her children, Sandra Baldwin of Dilworth, MN and son, Wade Baldwin of Cass Lake, MN; grandchildren, JaNay and Brent; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Zander, Julia, Russell, Brenden, Kelly, Marcelina and Antonio; brother-in-law, Charlie.  He was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin “Wes” in 1997; son, Darrel “Bruce”; and brother, Carl Watson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 2 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Baudette, MN.  Visitation will be one hour prior.  Interment will be at the Carp Cemetery in the spring.
