Eric A. Nordin, 32, a lifelong Lancaster, Minnesota resident passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 25th, 2015. Eric Arlen Nordin was born November 7, 1982 at Hallock, Minnesota to Arlen and Janet (Strege) Nordin. He was baptized and confirmed at Sion Lutheran Church in Lancaster. Eric graduated from Lancaster High School in 2002 and went on to attend Northland College in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He returned to Lancaster and began working at PodCo, his family’s powder coating business. Always the sports enthusiast, Eric hunted, fished, played high school basketball and truly enjoyed being a fan, whether it was watching the Minnesota Vikings, Cornhusker Football or attending an area high school game. He was adored by his nieces and nephew and loved spending time with them. Eric left an impression on the hearts of many in the area and was a cherished member of the Lancaster community.
He is survived by his parents, Arlen and Janet; sisters, Nicole (David) Thompson, Stephen, MN and Sarah (Tyson) Twamley, Thief River Falls, MN; three nieces, Macy, Regan and Andi; a nephew, Griffin; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded by his grandparents, Ole and Helen Nordin and Ernest and Alvina Strege; and a nephew, Hayden.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 28th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Sion Lutheran Church, Lancaster. Interment will be in Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery, Lancaster. Rev. Melodi Hagen and Rev. Galen Nordin, presiding; Dianne Rice, organist. Special music will be provided by Ashley and Galen Nordin and Erik Finney. Honorary casket bearers will be cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at Sion Lutheran Church on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock.
