A memorial service for Edward Hillsdale of Baudette will be held on Friday, May 1 at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Baudette at 3:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Edward was born on March 21, 1945 in Forest Lake, MN. He graduated from High School there and then attended the University of Minnesota for four years.
Ed married Ann Beer on May 15, 1971 in Omaha, Nebraska. They have two children, Jeff and Joni.
Ed worked as an engineer for the Continental Fire and Sprinkler Company in Omaha for over thirty years. Upon his retirement they moved to Baudette, MN. Ed loved to fish and prior to moving to Baudette he had fished in Baudette many times. He enjoyed the big lake. He liked summer fishing and ice fishing. His largest fish he caught was a 29 ½ inches that weighed over 12 pounds.
In younger years Ed enjoyed pheasant hunting. He was a member of the Eagles and of the Baudette American Legion. He enjoyed visiting with his friends at the Legion, and at Slims and Adrian’s Resorts.
Edward Hillsdale passed away on April 27 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. He was 70 years old.
He is survived by his wife Ann of Baudette, children, Jeff (Shawna) of Watertown, SD, and Joni (Simon) Moyel of Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Abby, Emily, and Eliana Moyel.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents and sisters Myrtle and Joyce.
