Dorothy Ione Adolphson, 92

   Dorothy Ione Adolphson, the daughter of the late William and Inga (Johnson) Zimpel, was born on October 28, 1922, at McGrath, Minnesota.  She attended school and grew to womanhood there and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  On January 28, 1939, Dorothy was united in marriage to Andrew “Andy” Adolphson at Duluth and the couple lived their entire married life there.  “Andy” passed away July 17, 1961, and Dorothy continued to make her home there until 2010, when she moved to Oakwood Homes in Karlstad, Minnesota, to be near to her daughter, Ardis and her family.  She moved to the Karlstad Senior Living Center in October of 2014  where she passed away on Thursday morning, April 30, 2015, at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 4 days.  Dorothy loved being a grandma, great-grandma and a great-great-grandma!  She also enjoyed bird watching and especially visiting with friends.
 
   She is survived by four daughters: Ardis (Dick) Hanson, of Karlstad;  Alice Knight and Anita Keys, both of Superior, Wisconsin; and Kathy Lotz, Braham, Minnesota;  two sons: Randy Adolphson, of Duluth and Allan (Norma) Adolphson, of Bemidji, Minnesota;  19 grandchildren;  38 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Alice Zimpel, of Duluth; in addition to many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
 
   Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, “Andy”;  her parents; one daughter: Arlene; one son: Art;  three grandsons; one brother: Will; and one sister: Myrtle.
