Lawrence Hanson

Lawrence was born on August 4, 1925 to Segar and Hannah (Engstrom) Hanson and raised in Roosevelt, Minnesota.  He joined the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War.  He later married and raised five children, Brenda, Larry, Kenneth, Kim and Dawn.  He also had 3 grandsons, one great-granddaughter and 2 great grandsons at the time of his death on March 5, 2015 at the LakeWood Health Center in Baudette.

He enjoyed life in Minnesota and worked as a woodsman, a hunter and a trapper; though he later had misgivings about hunting and trapping because of his love of animals.  He had many friends who respected him and treated him with much kindness, especially in his final years. Some of his favorite past times were listening to country music, dancing, reading, picking wild blueberries, crossword puzzles, antique hunting and visiting with his friends.  He loved nature and enjoyed watching many wild animals that would come to his yard, never afraid of him.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11 AM at the Roosevelt American Legion Hall.  Interment will be at the Silent City Cemetery with Military Honors by the Roosevelt American Legion.
