Diana “Penny” Shern, 76, of East Grand Forks, MN died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Valley Memorial Home, Woodside Village.
Penny Shern was born March 13, 1939 in Hallock, MN the daughter of Charles and Elaine (Olson) Abney. She graduated from Newfolden, MN High School in 1957. She married Gerald Shern on January 27, 1957 in Crookston, MN. She worked at the Dakota Hospital, Fargo, ND until they moved to East Grand Forks in 1962. She worked for the East Grand Forks School District at Crestwood Elementary until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband Gerald of East Grand Forks, children, Del (Tammy) Shern of East Grand Forks, Cyndi Shern-Dooley of St. Francis, MN, and David (Diane) Shern of Bethel, MN, grandchildren, Mike Shern, Tom (Jen) Shern, Matt Gust, Madison, Wyatt Dooley, and Colt Shern, and 3 great grandchildren, Max, Allison and Josh Shern. She is preceded in death by her mother and step father Elaine and Kingsley Dyer.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Memorial Service: 4:00 P.M., Monday, June 29, 2015 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1515 5th Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN.
