Miguel “Mike” Rositas, 73, of East Grand Forks, MN died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at his home.
Mike was born on April 29, 1942 in St. Johns, MI to the late Miguel and Otela (Lopez) Rositas, Sr. He grew up in Crystal City, TX and worked as a farm worker his entire life. On April 5, 1963 he was married to Sulema Medina in Crystal City, TX. In 1970 the family moved to East Grand Forks, MN where he worked for Driscoll Farms until his retirement in 2005.
Miguel Rositas, more commonly known as Papa to his family, enjoyed spending his time with his wife, children, grand children, great-grand children and his beloved trucks. Always the jokester, Papa thought it was funny to teach the little ones new words, “what’s in their pocket” and how to properly point a finger! He was a hard working man who was proud of his family, and he would tell stories of his children, grand children and great-grand children to anyone who would listen. Papa loved to spend time in his shop working on a new “old” trucks or tractors, and always had the patience to teach his children, grandchildren the ways around a shop. Papa was always willing to fix up the “toys” so that the grandchildren could drive around the farm. Papa always took care of his trucks; he is famous for yelling at the children for going over “55”. Whenever Papa would see the grandkids, there was always a dollar for them. His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren loved him dearly, and he will never be forgotten.
Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sulema Medina of East Grand Forks, MN; children, Mike (Linda) Rositas of Badger, MN; Maria (Leo) Saucedo of East Grand Forks, MN; Cris Rositas of Grand Forks, ND; Melissa (Aguiles) Calderon of Farmington, NM; Victor (Heather) Rositas of Prescott Valley, AZ; and Veronica (Carmelo) Torres of East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Anthony (Emily); Priscilla (Daryl); Amanda (Kyle); Mark Anthony; Victor; Esteban; Javier; Hunter; Sierra; Austin; and Liliana; great-grandchildren, Tomas; Benjamin Miguel; Mia; and Evan; siblings, Carlos (Rosalinda) Martinez of Crystal City, TX; Roy (Rachael) Lopez of Crystal City, TX; Rosa Rositas of Tyler, TX; Elizabeth (Camilo) Valverde of Tyler, TX; Esmeralda Lopez of Crystal City, TX; and Maria Elena (Pete) Trevino of San Antonio, TX; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
