Ina Mae (Johnson) Bartle, 95

Ina Mae (Johnson) Bartle, was born November 2, 1919 at Fosston, MN to parents, Charley and Caroline Johnson of Bagley. Growing up in Popple Township, she attended the Nasseth School in Eddy Township, and the Minnow Lake School in Popple Township, graduating on July 10, 1934 at Bagley.
On June 8, 1941, she married Conrad Alexis Anderson at Clearbrook, MN. They lived in and around the Bagley area until late 1942, when her husband entered the service. In 1943, she was employed in St. Paul, MN as a retail clerk at J.H. McKenna Co. In July of that year, she left for Seattle, WA to join her husband who was stationed at Fort Lewis. In Seattle, she was employed at Woolworths, and J.C. Penney Co. stores. In 1952, she was employed in the office of Block’s Shoes, and later at Frederick and Nelson’s Department Store.
On May 28, 1954, she married for a second time, to Donald J. Bartle, formerly of Baudette, MN. They attended Queen Anne Luth. Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild, and the Mary-Martha Circle. Donald passed away in 1986 at Seattle.
Ina Mae will be remembered for her many talents. She loved to learn, and attended adult evening classes at Edison Technical School, and Nathan Hale Community College in Seattle. She was creative, and an accomplished seamstress, as well as a painter and crafts person.
In her later years, she was intrigued by the computer and spent much time researching her Norwegian/Swedish heritage, which has been archived, along with many of her family’s memorabilia, at the Clearwater County Historical Museum in Shevlin, MN.
She passed away on June 26, 2015 in Seattle, WA at the age of 95. She is survived by cousins and friends. She will be missed. Interment will be beside her husband at Elm Park Cemetery in Baudette, MN.
