George Patrick Walsh, 77

George Patrick Walsh, the son of the late James and Helen (Witzman) Walsh, was born on August 23, 1937, at Badger, Minnesota.  He attended school and grew to manhood there and was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Badger. George served with the U.S. Army from December of 1956 until December of 1958.  Following discharge, he returned to Badger to the farm.  On November 4, 1961, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Boucher at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Crookston, Minnesota.  The couple purchased their homestead next to the Walsh Family Farm near Badger and made it their home.  George was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a long standing member of the Northland Threshing Bee.  He served several terms on the Threshing Bee and Stokes Township Boards.  The couple engaged in all aspects of farming.  In 1976 they built the current dairy barn and enlarged the dairy operation.  George passed away from injuries he received in a farming accident on Wednesday evening, August 12, 2015 at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 19 days.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; four sons:  Edward (Renee), of Badger; Patrick, of Badger; Matthew (Elicia), Coeur d’ alene, Idaho; and Jordan, of Badger;  three daughters:  Leone (Jim) Sobrack, of Hurley, Wisconsin; Renea (Shayne) Springston, of Lander, Wyoming; and Michelle (Jay) Kinshella, of Fargo, North Dakota;  nine grandchildren:  Averey Walsh, Mikayla Sobrack, Riley Walsh, Cassandra Sobrack, Owen Walsh, Cody Sobrack, Toby Hootch, Taunie Hootch and Von Springston; two brothers:  Allan (Delores) Walsh, of Badger, and Leonard (Ellen) Walsh of Nulino, Oregon; four sisters:  Sister Luella Walsh, of Rio Grande, Texas; Janette (Richard) Eklund, of Alexandria, Minnesota; Pollyanne Shafer, of Crookston, Minnesota; and Helen Hlucny, of Greenbush;  one brother-in-law: Howard Monsrud, of Woodbury,  Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. 
George was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter in miscarriage, two brothers: Jim and Charles, two sisters Mary Monsrud and Sarah Johnson; and three brothers–in-law: Roy Johnson, Allen Shafer and Roy Hlucny.
