Ralph John Philpot

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ralph John Philpot will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 10:00AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baudette, MN. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 from 5-7PM at the church with a prayer service at 7PM. Interment will be held at Elm Park Cemetery in Baudette, MN. Military Honors will be provided by the Baudette Veterans Ceremonial Squad.

Ralph passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2015, surrounded by family, at the LakeWood Health Center in Baudette, MN at the age of 81.

Ralph was born on June 12, 1934 in Stapleton, NE to Troy & Jessie Philpot. He attended grade school in Gandy Nebraska. His family moved to Baudette in 1949.

He graduated from Baudette High school in 1953. He was in the Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. He then moved to St. Louis, MO with a friend from his 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division out of Camp Pendleton, CA. He began working for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis, MO. He was married to Katherine (Walton) in 1958 at Presentation Catholic Church in Overland, MO. He then moved his family to Baudette, MN in 1971. He began farming, and an appliance repair service. Ralph groomed many miles of snowmobile trails in the winter months, and performed smoke chasing and fire fighting in the summer months. He also worked for Rowell Laboratories and retired from Solvay Laboratories in Baudette, MN. He enjoyed farming, animals, fishing and traveling. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a Life Member of the American Legion and VFW in Baudette. He was Commander of the American Legion in 1985.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and five sisters.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Katherine Philpot; his children, Mike (Jodi) Philpot, Ken Philpot, Ed (Lynn) Philpot. Lynette (Ken) Naour, Don Philpot and Michelle (Terry) Brown; grandchildren, Troy, Megan, Andrea and Stacy Philpot; Sam, Eli and Myranda Philpot; Sydney, Carly Naour; Karlene (Jalen) Stay, Bill Brown and John Brown; brother, Jim Philpot and sisters, Adah Ambler, Lola (Ronald) Dally, Rosella (Roy) Albin and Kay Ruediger; many nieces, nephews and friends.
