Duane Harry Nelson, 55

Duane Harry Nelson was born on July 21, 1960 in Greenbush to Harry and Doris (Haines) Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Gustav Adolph Lutheran Church in Strathcona and attended school in Greenbush where he graduated. Following school Dugan worked numerous jobs in the Strathcona/Greenbush communities over the years including driving truck for Jim Gjovik, Richard Lorenson, S & F Farms and T &T Motorsports. Dugan has worked during the spring through the fall at Waage Farms for the past 21 years and also at Wahl Bros. Racing in the winters. Dugan’s two passions in his life were farming and racing. He was an avid snowmobiler, loved riding ATV’s, watching NASCAR, and enjoyed his Strathcona community family. He was a man with a big heart that would give you the shirt off his back and enjoyed driving around the community helping all his many friends with any project they had. He was also a very active member of the Strathcona Community Club. Dugan passed away unexpectedly at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo on Monday, October 19, 2015 at the age of 55 years, 2 months, and 28 days.
Dugan is survived by his sister Carol (Mark) Ennenga of St. Louis Park, MN, his brother Ron Nelson of Missoula, MT, Nieces and Nephews: John & Megan Ennenga and Brittany & Christopher Nelson, Great Nephew Rylee Ortiz, and his 2nd dad, JR. Waage.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service was held at 2PM, October 25, 2015 at Grace Evangelical Church in Strathcona with Pastor Don Guttormson presiding. Dugan’s Honorary Bearers will be Dave Wahl, Dale Hamness, Ross Waage, Mark Connelly, Wayne Hanson, Ryan Waage, Todd Gjovik, Tom Hoverson, Doug Lorenson, Nathan Westlund, Todd Waage, Jared Ryden, and Doug Bentow. Special music will be provided by the Beito Family and Pianist will be Robin Waage. Dugan’s Urn Bearer is honorably entrusted to JR. Waage.
