Board of Education, Independent School District #595, East Grand Forks, Minnesota proceedings october 26, 2015 (1207)
The regular meeting of the Board of Education, Independent School District #595, East Grand Forks, Minnesota was held on Monday, October 26, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at the Senior High School.
Board Chair Palmiscno called the meeting to order.
Board members present: Black, Palmiscno, Piche, Simonson, Thompson, and Useldinger
Board members absent: none
Simonson moved to approve the agenda with the addition of hiring a bus paraprofessional under Agenda Item 8.2. Useldinger seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
Several community members were in attendance to voice concerns regarding several issues within the district.
Black moved to approve the minutes of the regular School Board meeting held on October 12, 2015. Simonson seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
Black moved that WHEREAS, Independent School District No. 595 is a member district of the Area Special Education Cooperative (ASEC) of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, and,
WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Area Special Education Cooperative at the October 20, 2015, meeting passed a motion to spend Federal Flow-Through IDEA Part B Sec. 611; IDEA Part B Sec. 619 Preschool; IDEA Part B Sec. 611 Low Incidence; IDEA Part C (0-2) and Teacher Development and Evaluation funds jointly in the Cooperative for the 2015-16 school year;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that David Pace be appointed the official representative for Independent School District No. 595, East Grand Forks, Minnesota empowering him/her to spend their Federal Flow-Through IDEA Part B Sec. 611; IDEA Part B Sec. 619 Preschool; IDEA Part B Sec. 611 Low Incidence; IDEA Part C (0-2) and Teacher Development and Evaluation funds cooperatively with other schools through the Joint Powers Agency of the Area Special Education Cooperative, 1505 Central Avenue NW, East Grand Forks, Minnesota 56721.
Upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor: Palmiscno, Black, Simonson, Piche, Thompson, and Useldinger; and the following voted against the same: none
Piche seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
Useldinger moved that EGFEA Grievance #1, dated October 1, 2015, be accepted and an addition 8 hours of relocation compensation be paid. Simonson seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
Black moved to accept the resignation of Yolanda Cox, bus driver, effective October 14, 2015. Simonson seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
Useldinger moved to hire the following coaches for the 2015-16 winter season:
Tracey Heisler 8th grade girls’ basketball
Philip Hartwig JV boys’ hockey
Kaila Lindsay 7th grade girls’ basketball
Abby Hearn 9th grade girls’ basketball
Greg Stephens 7th grade boys’ basketball
Black seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
Thompson moved to hire Michelle Hagen as a bus paraprofessional on an afternoon bus route for two hours per day beginning October 26, 2015. Piche seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
Thompson moved to approve the miscellaneous payments for the October 12, 2015, payroll in the amount of $11,612.38. The consent agenda is on file in the Superintendent’s Office. Useldinger seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
Simonson moved to accept the following donations:
