Lester William Noss, 92
Lester William Noss, age 92, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Lester was born on April 2, 1923 in Gary, MN to the late Peter and Hannah (Wold) Noss. He grew up and attended rural school in Gary, MN. Afterwards, he enlisted in the United States Navy for two years. He attended school in Chicago and Fargo. On October 14, 1952 he was united in marriage to Maxine Gorder in Gary, MN. He worked at Nocker Ryan Autobody in Fargo and in 1954 the family moved to Grand Forks, ND where he worked for first, Sandy Body Shop and the Grand Forks Welding and Machine for 27 years until his retirement in 1988.
Following his retirement, Lester enjoyed music, so he bought an organ and enjoyed playing musical instruments. He joined the Barber Shop Quartet where he truly enjoyed singing. He also enjoyed crocheting and gardening along with traveling the United States visiting family and friends.
Lester is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maxine Noss of East Grand Forks, MN; sons, Robert (Myrna) Noss of Grand Forks, ND and Richard (Jolene) Noss of East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Kelsey Noss of Grand Forks, ND; Lucas and Courtney Noss, of East Grand Forks, MN; and Jennifer Noss of Grand Forks, ND; and three sisters, Cora Tveit of Seattle, WA; Evelyn Michel of Kennewick, WA; and Ragna Heidbrink of Yuma, CO.
Lester is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Oscar, Ludvig, Orville, Palmer, Selmer and Rueben; sisters, Bertha and Myrtle.
Memorials are preferred to River Heights Lutheran Church.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM on Thursday, November 19, 2015 in River Heights Lutheran Church, 2214 10th Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN
Visitation: One Hour prior Funeral Service on Thursday in River Heights Lutheran Church.
Interment: Memorial Park South Cemetery ~ Grand Forks, ND
