Jane Lorenson, 87

Jane Lorenson, 87, of Greenbush, Minn., passed away New Years Day, 2016, at the LifeCare Medical Center in Roseau, Minn.
Jane Lorenson was born Jane Odella Anderson on January 13, 1928, in Greenbush, Minn., to Ove and Judith (Hoem) Anderson. She graduated from Greenbush High School in May of 1946 and became the bride of Melvin Lorenson on June 10, 1946, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush.
The couple made their home on a farm east of Strathcona, Minn., where Jane was kept busy as a homemaker and mother.  In 1971, they moved to Greenbush where they made their home in the house where Jane was born and raised.
She worked as a dietary aid at the Greenbush hospital and nursing home, retiring in December of 1993 after 21 years of service. She enjoyed needlework, quilting, collecting music boxes, taking pictures and videos, and also loved picking berries.  She was proud of the fact she made a quilt for each member of her family. She also has a couple of baby quilts for the new little ones yet to come. She was so proud of her big family!  She was a member of the Grace Evangelical Church of Strathcona, where she was active in their Ladies Aid and spent many years as one of their presidents. She had a strong faith and not a card was given by her without a praying hands sticker attached.
  Left to mourn her passing are her five children:
Merle (Vickie) Lorenson of Strathcona, Minn.;
Marcia (Erich) Schmidt of Sprague, Manitoba, Canada;
Judith (Doug) Bergsnev of Brainerd, Minn.;
Ricky (Vandra) Lorenson of Greenbush Minn,; and David (Becky) Lorenson of Greenbush, Minn.
Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.
Brother-in-law, Eldor (Charmaine) Lorenson of Greenbush, sisters-in-law, Lila (Kennis) Anderson of Greenbush and Deloris Lorenson of Greenbush, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Melvin on August 3, 2014, and grandsons Paul and JR.  Her sister, Stella Anderson and infant brother, Olaf Anderson.  Daughter-in-law—Karen Lorenson,  brothers-in-law—Edward, Clifford and Randy Lorenson,  sisters-in-law—Lillian Vacura Koehnlein and Delores Stromlund.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, January 5, at 11:00 a.m. in Grace Evangelical Church of Strathcona, Minn., with Pastor Robert Ludwig officiating.
Pat Ludwig was the organist and special music was provided by Vernon Lorenson and Gale Hanson.  Jane’s grandsons were pallbearers: Vernon, Michael, Brian and Chad Lorenson, Dwayne Bergsnev, Nathan and Jeremy Schmidt,  and Rhett Cummings.  Honorary pallbearers were all of Jane’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandsons as well as her special friends, Mavis, Louise and Cookie.
Burial was in the Lorenson Family Cemetery at rural Strathcona with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush in charge.
