Genevieve “Gen” Marie Mellum, age 89
Genevieve “Gen” Marie Mellum, age 89, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND.
Genevieve “Honey” Deziel was born on May 10, 1926 in Grand Forks, ND to the late Roy and Louise (Miller) Deziel. She was united in marriage to Arnold Mellum on July 19, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, MN. The family made their home in East Grand Forks and Gen was very active at Sacred Heart in the Women’s Guild, the Birthday Club, and was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxillary. Gen was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to sew and crochet and was always making something for someone.
Gen is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Arnold Mellum of East Grand Forks, MN; daughter, Diana (Richard) Grassell of East Grand Forks, MN; 3 sons, Thomas Mellum of East Grand Forks, MN; Terry (Jean) Mellum of Bemidji, MN; and Bradley (Wendy) Mellum of Bemidji, MN; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Bonnie) Deziel of Bemidji, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Louise Deziel; brother, Robert Deziel; and sisters, Ann Holweger and Madonna Ballantine.
