Jacklyn J. Hanson, 77

Jacklyn J. Hanson, 77 passed away on April 1, 2016 at her family home in East Grand Forks, Minnesota surrounded by loved ones.

Jacklyn Jean “Jackie” (Jeffrey) Hanson was born on May 22, 1938 in Grand Forks, ND to Francis “Frank” and Armilda “Millie” (Purpur) Jeffrey and grew up in the family home near Stauss Park in East Grand Forks (EGF).    

She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in East Grand Forks, where she remained an active member until her death.  She graduated from East Grand Forks Central High School in 1956. She and her classmate, Paul J. Hanson, Sr. were voted “Most Athletic” in their graduating class.  On April 17, 1957 she was united in marriage to Paul J. They began raising their family in Los Angeles, Description: http://www.awltovhc.com/image-2326881-10471554-1404254934000California and Paul, Idaho before moving back to East Grand Forks in 1974. Jackie worked as a cook at the East Grand Forks Technical College for a number of years. She and Paul were among a group of people in East Grand Forks to start the Community Education Youth Basketball Program and Boosters Club.  She also worked beside her husband doing antique and wood restoration projects including St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks, ND and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Reynolds, ND as well as two historic homes on Reeves Drive in Grand Forks, ND. 

Jackie lived her life striving to be a reflection of God’s love and grace. Her life was a daily expression of the hands and feet of the body of Christ in action, ministering to the many lives she touched. Jackie loved her church and was dedicated throughout her life to teaching Sunday School, Confirmation Classes, leading the Youth Group and volunteering with her dear sisters-in-Christ with the LWML ladies group.  Jackie enjoyed working on her sewing and craft projects.  She was an excellent cook and housekeeper.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, attending her grandchildren’s athletic and school events.  She was affectionately known as “Gramma Jackie” or “Aunt Jackie” to many beyond her immediate family.

Grandchildren: Daniel, Jeffrey, Scott, Tanner (Leah), Jason, Mark, Tasha (Garrett Lind), Emily, Luke and Sarah Hanson and Kyler (Stephanie Wager), Hannah, Sheena, and Zachary Hellekson.  Great grandchildren: Alexis “Lexi”, Cameron and Quinn Hanson and Ashlyn and Kinlyn Hellekson.    Siblings: Ron “Jeff” Jeffrey of GF, Judith “Dolly” (Lyle) Smith of EGF,  William “Bill” (Betty) Jeffrey of Fosston, MN, Peggy Donica (Rob Czapiewski) of EGF.  Her in-laws Ronalee Hanson, Corona, CA,   George (Judy) Hanson and Fordyce “Punky” (LuAnn) Hanson of GF, Description: http://www.awltovhc.com/image-2326881-10471554-1404254934000Alfred “Osky” (Mary) Hanson Jr. of Fosston, Description: http://www.awltovhc.com/image-2326881-10471554-1404254934000MN along with her  nieces, nephews, cousins and many of her dear  friends.   
Jacklyn is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Millie Jeffrey, husband Paul Hanson Sr., sisters Vonnie  Fingarson, Lois Corbid and her foster sisters Bonnie Burt Lettow  and Claire Burt Courser.

Funeral Service:  10:30 AM on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, 203 5th St. NW, East Grand Forks, MN.

 

Visitation:  5:00 to 7:00 with a 6:30 PM Prayer Service Wednesday, April 6, 2016, Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN.

 

Interment:  Resurrection Cemetery ~ East Grand Forks, MN.
