Proceedings April 11, 2016

The regular meeting of the Board of Education, Independent School District #595, East Grand Forks, Minnesota was held on Monday, April 11, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. at the Senior High School.
Board Chair Palmiscno called the meeting to order.
Board members present: Black, Palmiscno, Piche, Simonson, Thompson, and Useldinger
Board member absent: None
Useldinger moved to approve the agenda with the following additions:
7.2 Recognition Gifts and Awards – ADDED 4/7/16
8.2 Resignations – ADDED 4/7/16
Piche seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Black moved to approve the minutes of the regular school board meeting held on March 28, 2016.  Simonson seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Black moved to grant permission to the German class to travel to Germany during the summer of 2017, without any cost to the school district.  Simonson seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Thompson moved to present district retirees with chairs and to present gifts as service awards for every fifth year of employment beginning with the tenth year to all employees.  Black seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Simonson moved to hire the following people contingent on them receiving a Minnesota teaching license prior to the start of the school year:
Nicole Wagner, English teacher B, Step 1 $34,647.00
Danika Freitag, Health teacher B, Step 1 $34,647.00
Useldinger seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Black moved to hire Jodi Boushee as an administrative assistant at New Heights for 210 days per year beginning April 25, 2016.  Piche seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Piche moved to increase the hours of Rick Pesch, bus driver by 1.5 hours per day for the remainder of the 2015-16 school year.  Simonson seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Black moved to accept the following resignations:
Kathy Rambeck, Paraprofessional effective at the end of the 2015-16 school year
Terri Hammarback, Butterfly Garden effective April 6, 2016
Useldinger seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Piche moved to approve the miscellaneous payments for the March 28, 2016, payroll in the amount of $17,315.31.  The consent agendas are on file in the Superintendent’s Office.   Black seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Simonson moved to approve the following donations to the school district:

Useldinger seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Black moved to approve the payment of the K-12 checks #108378 through #108582, bond checks #1000 through #1002, and electronic fund transfers as follows:

Food Service Fund 02 41,658.24
Community Education Fund 04 861.34
Building Fund 06 (Bond Checks) 555,864.18
Debt Redemption Fund 07 0.00
Trust Fund 09 0.00

The bills are on file in the Superintendent’s Office.  Simonson seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
Thompson moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:06 p.m. Piche seconded the motion.  The motion was carried.
