Leroy Syverson, 75

Leroy Syverson, 75 of Karlstad, MN passed away on June 14, 2016 at Kittson Memorial Care Center in Hallock, MN.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Wesley Staie Officiating.  Burial will be held at the Karlstad City Cemetery. Please join us for coffee and cookies following the service

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Leroy Mitchell Syverson was born January 15, 1941 at Greenbush, MN son of Leonard and Mildred (Peterson) Syverson. He was raised near Karlstad, MN where he attended school. Leroy worked for Curtis Anderson Trucking for 30 years. Leroy farmed grain, cattle and horses. He was an avid horse lover who enjoyed taking the team of horses to parades and giving children wagon rides. He was a long time member of the Northern Thrashing bee and North Border Harness club. He enjoyed restoring old horse drawn equipment. Leroy always enjoyed visiting with family and friends, you were always welcome for coffee and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed going back in time reminiscing with his Amish friends. He loved the time spent with his grandchildren and they enjoyed their time at the farm with Papa.

Leroy married Sandra Hahn January 30, 1965 at Karlstad, MN. To this union three children were born Scott, Lori and Brent. On June 25, 2004 he was united in marriage to Terri Green at Roseau, MN and resided at the River Bend Horse Ranch near Pelan, MN.

Leroy is survived by his wife Terri of Karlstad, MN; children Scott (Shelley) Syverson of Karlstad, MN, Lori Syverson of Wasilla, Ak, and Brent (Tara) Syverson of Strandquist, MN; step-children Marlin Nelson, Pam Nelson, Bradley Nelson, David Nelson, and Dion Nelson; Michael (Lori) Lindholm, Derick (Shannon) Converse, Tony (Kirsti) Converse; grandchildren Christina (Jeremy) St. Pierre, Micheal Syverson, Erika Faris, Robyn Faris, Breanna Faris; great-grandchildren Marienna and Kaden, Nathan and Nora; step-grandchildren Claudia, Caitlin, Caley, Hannah, Olivia, Madison, Morgan, Amelia, Taylor, Emily, Corey, Kayla, Lyndsey, Brianna and McKenna; many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, step-son Christopher Nelson and step-grandson Andrew Nelson.
