A Funeral Service for Rudolph Kolberg of Roseau, MN will be held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at 3:00PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Moe-Rose Cemetery in Roseau, MN.
Rudy passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the age of 84.
Rudolph Norman Kolberg was born on March 25, 1932 in Barto Township to Julious and Myrtle (Holter) Kolberg.
Rudy served in the US Army during the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant and overseas tank commander from October 8, 1952 to May 24, 1956. Upon his return from service, he married Verla Allsup on May 26, 1956 in Olympia, Washington.
They moved back to Roseau and he started working for the City of Roseau. He continued working for the city until his retirement in January 1991. Rudy enjoyed ice fishing and snowmobiling.
Rudy is survived by his children: Debbie (Kim) Kompelien of Roseau, MN; Denease (Lance) Opdahl of Greenbush, MN; Drew (Reta) Kolberg of Roseau, MN; Diane (Alan) Carlson of Roosevelt, MN; grandchildren Ryan, Randy, Tasha, Aaron, Alan, Candace, Carly, and Karl; great-grandchildren Matty, Aiden, Gaines, Gideon, Gareth, Maci, Morgan, Marissa, Madison, and Tyrah; brother Earl Kolberg of Roseau, MN; sister Alma Olson of Greenbush, MN; unborn great grandson due in August.
He was preceded in death by his wife Verla, parents Julious and Myrtle, brothers Joe, Kenneth, and Melvin, and sister Hazel.
