MaryJo Rose (Lewis) Perkerewicz, age 73, of Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Woodside Village in Grand Forks, ND.
Maryjo was born on June 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Metcalf) Lewis. She grew up in East Grand Forks, MN, and graduated from Saint James High School in Grand Forks, ND. She married Ernie Mangino in 1962 in East Grand Forks, MN and spent many years caring for her home and family. Maryjo married Al Perkerewicz on September 4th, 1998 in Grafton, ND. She graduated from the AVTI and worked for Job Service North Dakota in Grand Forks for 22 years until her retirement in 2009.
Maryjo loved her grandkids and spent as much time with them as she could. She enjoyed hanging out with her daughters at the lake, rummage sales, shopping and Christmas baking. Some of her favorite times were spent riding around with Al in his classic Ford pickup. In the words of her all time idol, Elvis Presley, “Until We Meet Again”….
MaryJo is survived by her husband, Al Perkerewicz of Grand Forks, ND; children, Lisa (Steve) Swanson of Grand Forks, ND; Erica (Wayne) Young of Grand Forks, ND; Chad Mangino of Portland, OR; and Randy Mangino of Portland, OR; stepson, Brett (Courtney) Perkerewicz of Seattle, WA; 7 Grandchildren, Jake, Zach, Isaiah, Noah, Piper, Carly and Tyler; sister, Kathy (Dale) Jarombek of Grand Forks, ND; and brother, Jim (Cathy) Lewis of Geneva, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Lewis; daughter, Melinda Mangino; and brother, Richard Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or 4000 Valley Square Nursing Home in Grand Forks, ND are appreciated.
Memorial Service: 2:30 pm ~ Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 3rd St. NW, East Grand Forks, MN.
Visitation: One hour before the service.
Inurnment: At a later date.
