A Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees of Badger ISD 676 was held Monday, October 10, 2016, beginning at 7:30 PM in the ITV Computer Lab. 1. Call to Order at 7:31 P.M. 1. 1. Roll Call: Jamie Isane, Jim Christianson, Connie Creviston, Carol Rhen, Jeramy Swenson Absent: Cari Dostal 1. 2. Administration: Tom Jerome, Shena Brandt 1. 3. Recommended motion: Member Creviston moved to approve the minutes of the September 12th, 2016 Regular Board Meeting. Motion seconded by Christianson. U.C. 4. Consent Agenda 4. 1. Building and Grounds • Automated Floor Scrubber was purchased • Floor Scrubber was budgeted for in Capital Expenditures category for FY17 • A security camera has been replaced and a new DVR recorder has been installed • Updated DVR recorder will allow for higher resolution recording • No quotes for aid handling system • Looking for someone to install baseboards in gym 6. 1. b. Student Enrollment • As of October 6th, 2016 : Badger Enrollment is: 255 • October 9th, 2015 : Badger Enrollment was: 256 • *see attached 6. 1. c. Badger School District Financial Audit • Brady Martz reports the Badger School District Fund Balances experienced a gain of $58,122 during the past fiscal year • 2016 – 2017 academic end of year enrollment student count was 257 6. 1. d. Badger School Seniority and Teacher Certification List • The Badger School District Seniority and Teacher Certification List has been presented to Education Association • District has received no requests for modifications or changes • School Board approves Seniority and Teacher Certification list on annual basis • *see attached 6. 1. f. Northwest Service Coop Environmental Health and Safety Report • Inspection conducted by NWSC representative Brian Byklum • Findings and comments have been distributed as needed • *see attached 6. 1. g. Minnesota School Board Association Leadership Development Certificate • MSBA has awarded Mrs. Carol Rhen the Minnesota School Board Association Leadership Development Certificate • The MSBA Leadership Development Certificate is awarded upon successfull completion of Phase I – II – III Training 6. 1. h. Digital Textbook Implementation • Mrs. Dostal and Mr. Johnson have selected, ordered and will begin to utilize Digital Textbooks • 7th Grade Science • McGraw – Hill Education Digital Resources • Life iScience • 7th Grade Social Studies • Pearson Education • US History Digital Text book 6. 1. k. Review of Badger School early/late start or cancellation procedure • Student Safety is number one priority • Communication begins early in morning with Transportation Director, may involve communication with County or State officials and/or law enforcement • Blackboard Connect / First Alert notification system is utilized to communicate modified school schedule • Media is contacted as well (radio stations, television stations as well as Grand Forks Herald. • School webpage is also utilized to communicate any changes to school schedule due to weather or other unforeseen events 6. 1. l. FIRST Robotics • Val Truscinski has assumed the role as Badger School District FIRST Robotics Advisor • Badger FIRST Robotics team 3750 has successfully registered and will compete in the Lake Superior Regional in Duluth, MN • Regional competition will take place March 1st – 4th 6. 1. m. Badger School District Bus Routes • Transportation Director Tim Berger indicated approximately 2 weeks ago a 5th regular bus route may be necessary. • Permission for a 5th route was granted pending an outline of what the 5 bus routes would consist of prior to finalizing decision • Mr. Berger indicated he would work on preparing 5 routes (names, pick up, drop off times as well as start and end of work day for bus drivers). • Further information will be provided when routes have been projected 6. 1. n. Minnesota Association of School Administrators Annual Fall Conference • State Superintendent Conference • October 2nd – 4th Craguns Resort, Brainerd, MN • Keynote Speaker : David Weber 6. 1. o. Roseau Life Care Medical Center • Roseau Life Care is providing Game Coverage as well as Onsite Student Athlete injury coverage. • Services are being provided at no charge to our district. • Coverage has occurred thus far at Football games (all but one home event thus far) as well as Volleyball contests. 6. 2. School District Superintendent Committee • Badger School District Superintendent Committee members : Board Chair Jamie Isane, Board Vice Chair Jim Christianson and Clerk Carol Rhen • The Badger School District and Greenbush/Middle River School District have agreed to continue the 60/40 Superintendent share between the districts. 7. 3.
