Sections of the Greenway trail system have been closed temporarily due to high water levels in the Red River.
Flooding conditions have caused the trail nearest the Red Lake River from the Lincoln Park disc golf course, behind the VFW Arena and the section of trail nearest the Red River underneath the Sorlie Bridge at DeMers Avenue to be closed for the time being, according to a notice issued by the city.
City officials recommend residents proceed with caution during the melting season when using the Greenway trails and steering clear of any flooded sections. More sections have the potential to become flooded as river levels continue to change.
The National Weather Service reports minor flooding expected for the area, with a decline in water levels over the coming week. A flood warning is in effect for East Grand Forks through Friday morning.
