Grace Lynne Cushing died unexpectedly in her home on April 9th, 2017.
Grace was born December 16th, 1943 to parents Harold and June Grover in Los Angeles, CA. She was an only child raised by her mother and grandparents in Hollywood, CA and went to Hollywood High School. After graduation, she attended St. Vincent’s College of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Grace’s first job was at a VA hospital in San Francisco, CA. She later moved to Philadelphia, PA, where she met her husband, Stephen Cushing. Their daughters, Leslie and Nicole, were born before their marriage ended in 1983. Grace remained in Bismarck and continued working as a nurse at Medcenter One. She was active in Beginning Experience, where she made many lifelong friends and helped others recover from divorce, separation, and death. She was a great listener and dedicated friend.
Grace moved to East Grand Forks, MN in 2011 to be closer to her family. She found a new group of friends at her home in Townsquare Apartments where she continued to provide a listening ear and support to others. Grace had a cat named Pooky and loved all the little dogs in the building. She always had treats in her pocket for them. She will be sorely missed by friends and family.
Grace was preceded in death by her mother, June, and is survived by daughters Leslie (Dean) Anderson, Nicole Swanson, and Grandchildren; Jake, Devin, and Cameron.
A private family service will be held at a later date in Hollywood, CA.
