Stanley Donald Johnston, 87

Stanley Donald Johnston, age 87, of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2017, at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND.

Stanley was born on October 31, 1929, in East Grand Forks, MN, the son of the late Carlton and Minnie (Witt) Johnston. He grew up in East Grand Forks and graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School in 1950. After high school he joined the US Air Force and upon his return he was united in marriage to Jacquelyn “Jackie” Hannah on February 22, 1953 in East Grand Forks, MN. The family moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Northern Ordinance and School District #279. In 1979 the family moved to California where he worked for the University of California-Davis in the Physical Plant until his retirement in 1992. Upon retirement they moved to Iowa and in 1996 back to East Grand Forks where he worked for Hugo’s for 10 years.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jackie Johnston of East Grand Forks, MN; son, James (Denise) Johnston of Parker, CO; daughters, Robyn (Gary) Reid of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jodi (Richard) Hoffarth of Champlain, MN; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Nadyne Dickerson in Richmond, VA; as well as many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Minnie Johnston and 11 brothers and sisters.

Memorial Service: 1:00 pm ~ Friday, June 23, 2017 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN

Visitation: One Hour Before Memorial Service on Friday in Dahl Funeral Home.
