Kenneth Neil Egeland, 64

Kenneth Neil Egeland, 64, of Crookston, MN, died unexpectedly from natural causes on Monday, January 9, 2017. Kenny was born on May 7, 1952 in Thief River Falls, MN, one of 10 children of Nels and Philomena (Feist) Egeland. As a young boy he moved with his family to East Grand Forks where he attended school. For many years, Kenny was employed as an over the road semi driver, working for Useldinger’s and Paul Aslakson Trucking. Prior to his retirement he worked as a heavy equipment operator throughout the upper Midwest. While living in Grand Forks, he worked for Close Construction and ICS. He moved to Crookston in 2013.

In December of 1980 he was united in marriage to Carol Moe. They had two children, Christopher and Melissa.

As a young man he raced stock cars at the Grand Forks Speedway and remained an avid sprint car racing fan throughout his life, attending many races around the country. Kenny will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He will live on in our hearts as a father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Kenny will be lovingly remembered by his son, Chris Egeland (Desiree Tessier) of Grand Forks, ND; daughter, Melissa (Chad) Starkey of Cabot, AR; 3 grandchildren: Waylon, Joslyn, and Maddyn Starkey; 5 brothers: John Egeland and Martin (Roxine) Egeland of East Grand Forks, MN, Wayne Egeland of Grand Forks, Mike (Georgia) Egeland of Fisher, MN and Patrick Egeland of East Grand Forks; 3 sisters: JoAnne (Robert) Juneau of Longmont, CO, Norma Gregoire of Puyallup, WA, and Diane Legvold of East Grand Forks; sister-in-law, Marilyn Egeland of East Grand Forks; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Philomena; and brother, Robert “Berger” Egeland. Blessed be Kenny’s memory.

A memorial graveside service for Kenneth Egeland will be held at 10:30am, Friday, July 7, 2017, at the Bygland Cemetery, rural East Grand Forks, MN. The Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
