KMHC hires new CEO

Ashley Rivera, the new CEO for the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, says that he has had a very welcoming experience. “Everyone is so friendly up here,” Rivera says, “People will wave at you when you’re walking or driving, and everyone is willing to say hi and chat; it is not like that from where I’m from, unless the individuals know you.”

Rivera is originally from Florida, and got his first full time job in a hospital as a dishwasher. “I started from the very bottom and worked my way up,” Rivera says, “I wanted to help people and I knew I had to go to college if I wanted to have a bigger impact.” Rivera earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida. Rivera did not stop there; he went on to earn his Masters in Business Administration at Grand Canyon University in Arizona. Rivera also earned his Doctorate and completed his residency in Arizona and just finished this last year.

Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center hired an executive firm to find candidates for hiring, which is how Rivera was found, interviewed for, and accepted the CFO position. “Right now I’m working as both the CEO and CFO,” Rivera says. On top of juggling these two roles, Rivera also teaches online business classes at the college level.
