According to Tri-County’s recently updated school website, “Karlstad/Tri-County has had 13 superintendents and 22 principals, as well as hundreds of teachers and support personnel since 1906.” Ryan Baron, originally from Browerville, MN, is the new Superintendent and Principal for Tri-County School in Karlstad, MN. Baron majored in Mathematics Education at St. Cloud State University and then got his masters in Educational Leadership at Concordia University in St. Paul. And finally, in order to take the position offered here at Tri-County, Baron got his Superintendent’s Endorsement and K-12 Principalship through St. Cloud State University.
Baron’s last position was as the High School Principal and Mathematics Instructor in Midway, MN, where he also taught mathematics.
Baron is not a stranger to Karlstad; he has previously worked at Tri-County Schools as a math teacher as well as coaching and advising Football and the Knowledge Bowl. Baron may end up helping teach the mathematics class at Tri-County. A math teacher is needed, but the position has been hard to fill. Baron thinks that part of the problem is that potential candidates are hesitant to teach trigonometry.
