Regular Board of Education Meeting Tri-County School District 2358 February 21, 2018, 6:30 p.m. Tri-County School Staff Workroom, Karlstad, Minnesota Members Burkel, Duray, Koland, Murray, Olson, Chairperson Swenson, Superintendent/Principal Baron and Dean of Students Amb were present. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Swenson at 6:30 p.m. and a quorum was determined. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. We are Proud… • We are proud of every single staff member in the building that helps in molding of the minds of all of our young students. To all of the staff that help in making sure they are to and from the bus and home safely. To all of the staff that makes our students feel welcomed and loved when they come to school. We are proud to be a part of one big family. • We are proud of every single student here. We are proud of those that come even though it’s a struggle to be here. We are proud of those that participate in activities and sports, and we are proud of those that don’t or can’t participate. We are proud of everyone. •We are proud of the 5 students that participated in the Minnesota Band Director’s Association, Northwest Region Honor bands on Saturday, January 13th. The students left school at 5:45 a.m. for the drive to Fergus Falls. After a full day of rehearsal and sectionals, they gave their concerts starting at 5 p.m. Participants were: 7-8th grade band–Paulina Berggren, alto saxophone. 9-10th grade band–Keaton Klegstad, trumpet and Hailey Barth, alto saxophone. 11-12th grade band–Morgan Lindgren, trumpet and Courtnie Foss, trombone. These students represented Tri-County well and the concert was great! •We are proud of Hailey Barth for her participation in the UND Honor Band Festival during the weekend of January 19-21st. Rehearsals began Friday afternoon and lasted through Sunday, with a final concert at 1:30 p.m. in the Chester Fritz Auditorium to a very full house. The music is the most difficult I have seen to date and was a big challenge for Hailey. Only a handful of 10th graders were chosen to participate in the honor band as the rest were Juniors and Seniors. Hailey has worked so hard to be able to play as well as she does, that it was great to see her rewarded with this honor.
