On Saturday, October 26, Team 3750, the Gator Robotics team out of Badger High School, competed in the Northern Minnesota Robotics Conference Championship at Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. A total of 26 teams currently participate in this conference from throughout Minnesota and North Dakota. At this event, Gator Robotics Team 3750’s very own Avdyl Jasiqi earned the 2019 “Team Member of the Year” award for his outstanding dedication to robotics and STEM within the Badger school and community.

His coach, Valerie Truscinski, nominated Jasiqi, a junior, to be considered for this award. A panel of judges then read and scored all the nominations. The nominees were scored on the following: Gracious Professionalism, Leadership/Role Model, Growth/Success, and Attitude.

In the nomination, Truscinski stated, “Avdyl is key in so many facets of our team. He is one of the most dedicated team members we have, putting in hundreds of hours each build season. He puts in much time off season as well, attending every outreach and fundraising event our team has had.”

Truscinski explained how this time includes, but is not limited to, the following work: presentations to corporations, doing demonstrations, working with the Badger School’s after school robotics camp, and promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) within the Badger classrooms.

“Avdyl does all of this with a positive attitude, and a smile on his face, always eager to help promote our team in any way he can,” Truscinski said in the nomination. “On top of everything he brings to the table, he also keeps the atmosphere in our robotics shop cheerful and positive – making the season more enjoyable for mentors and teammates alike.”
