Vera Jean (Moran) Loer, 71
Vera Jean (Moran) Loer, 71, of Humboldt, Minnesota passed away at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center on Sunday, November 3, 2019. Vera was born May 19, 1948 to Joseph Alfred and Mabel Bertha (Burnell) Moran in Hallock, Minnesota. The family lived in Lancaster, Minnesota and later moved to Hallock where she graduated from high school in 1966. After high school, she married Roger Jacob Loer (of Humboldt) on December 4, 1966 in Kellogg, Idaho. They lived in both Idaho and Washington State before moving back to Humboldt in 1972. They started farming there and Vera worked at the Kittson County Nursing Home until 1978 and then worked Motor Coach Industries in Pembina until she was forced to retire because of her COPD. Vera also helped on the farm, moving equipment, running after parts and serving meals to the workers in the harvest fields. Vera was active in the community as a Boy Scout Den Mother, Humboldt Methodist Women’s Auxiliary member,Eagles Auxiliary member and International Auto Workers Union member. Vera enjoyed gardening, canning as well as cooking and baking for her family, especially her “Prince Charming” Roger.
Vera is survived by her husband, Roger; a son, Lance (Leonie) both of Humboldt; a daughter, Jo Lynn (Shane) Auginaush of Saint Paul Island, AK; three brothers, Vern Dokkin, Thief River Falls, MN, Harold (Barbara) Moran, Bluefield, WV and Terrence (Martha) Moran, National City, CA; a sister-in-law, Rita Moran, Port Angeles, WA; a brother-in-law, Robert Law, Malden, WA; grandchildren, Ricky Loer, Nevis, MN, Jeannie Loer, West Fargo, ND, Shanna Loer, Humboldt, MN, Jacob Auginaush, Bagley, MN and Wyatt Auginaush, Saint Paul Island, AK; a great grandson, Javier Hruza, Andover, MN and several nieces and nephews. Vera was preceded in death by her son, Shane Loer; parents; sisters, Dorothy Anderson, Elizabeth Carter, Alice Beito and June Law; a brother John (Jack) Moran; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Dokkin.
Vera’s family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Kittson Memorial Healthcare staff for the love and care she received the last 13 months. We would also like to thank the Kittson County Hospice volunteers, friends and family who have stayed, checked and visited with Vera in our time of need.
Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Humboldt Methodist Church. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held at Austin Funeral Chapel, Hallock on Monday, November 11th, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00.
