John Bergh, 62
On Thursday, March 26, 2020, John Bergh, loving and devoted husband, father of three, and grandpa of six passed away at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, North Dakota at the age of 62 after a long battle with LCATs disease.
John Ralph Bergh was born in Hallock, Minnesota on September 10, 1957 to Larry and Dorothy (Finkenbinder) Bergh. John was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Hallock, Minnesota where he was a lifelong member. He played hockey and football at the Hallock High School and graduated in 1975 a proud Hallock “Bear.” After graduation he married the love of his life and ultimate caretaker, Lori Potrament, of Lancaster, MN on May 29, 1976. They raised two sons, Lonnie and Casey, and one daughter, Lindsay at their home in Hallock, MN. He spent the last 30 years employed at North Kittson Rural Water. He enjoyed his “after hours” side job with the Boychuk Brothers.
John had a passion for sports and was an avid Minnesota sports fan. He especially enjoyed watching his grandkids participate in their sporting events. His infectious smile and love for the game and his grandkids could be felt throughout. He looked forward to his annual South Dakota pheasant hunting trip with his friends, and enjoyed hunting and telling stories at deer camp. John loved “the woods.” He felt at peace when sitting and listening to nature.
People would say John was a well-respected man. He saw the good in everything and in everyone and never complained. He let his faith and good sense of humor carry him through the struggles that he was dealt. He was a role model and a selfless man. John enjoyed music and most of all, John Prine. “In spite of” the countless trips to and from the cities for medical appointments, memories were made and will forever be cherished.
John is survived by his loving wife, Lori of 43 years, sons Lonnie Bergh, Minneapolis, MN, Casey (Holly) Bergh, East Grand Forks, MN and a daughter Lindsay (Brett) Lindgren, Kennedy, MN; 6 grandchildren, Kaden, Taylor, Megan, Afton, Sophia, and Ivy; mother; Dorothy Bergh; siblings David (Linda) Bergh, Nancy Amiot; sister-in-law, Lois (Tim) Wilwand, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
