Wayne Soberg, 74
Alan Soberg, age 74, of Fargo, ND, died unexpectedly, Friday, May 28, 2021 in Baudette, MN.
Alan David Soberg was born January 13, 1947, in Fargo, ND. He attended High School at Argusville High School in Argusville, ND, where he excelled in playing basketball. Al graduated from High School in 1965. He went on to attend one year of studies at North Dakota State University.
Al worked as a truck driver at American Freight and ABF Freight System Inc., Fargo, ND, as part of the Teamsters Union for 30 years. He retired from ABF Freight System Inc., in 2003. On November 26, 1990, Al was united in marriage with Nancy Kay Sather in Sisseton, SD. After their marriage, they built their life in Argusville, ND.
In 2011, Al and Nancy became snowbirds and headed down to Texas for some warmer weather. While in Texas, he enjoyed spending time with family and being a ‘Jokester’ at the Bingo-hall with his friends.
When the summer came, Al and Nancy, headed up North to Lake of the Woods in Minnesota for Al’s other passion, fishing. He would spend hours each day fishing on the lake. He would get up early to fish for a few hours and return to the cabin for lunch, his daily soap opera, a quick nap and he would be back at it again on the lake.
While Al was spending his time in Texas or Minnesota, you can count on him to keep you current with his sports updates. He loved watching his sports. Al was easy going, caring and lived life from day to day. He lived in the moment every day.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Soberg, his children, Sally Soberg, Fargo, ND, April (Libor) Bocek, Fort Worth, TX, Ken (Downey) Larson, Devils, Lake, ND; 10 grandchildren Bria Soberg, Halle Soberg, Haven Soberg, Harlo Soberg, Petra Bocek, Jakub Bocek, Filip Bocek, Connor Larson, Drew Larson and Emma Larson; one sister June (Donny) Marks, Twin Valley, MN; two brothers Sonny (Janie) Soberg, Fargo, ND, Dennis (Norma Bernard) Soberg, Fargo, ND.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Lillian and Kenneth Gerhard Soberg, five sisters, Lillian Sorlie, Delores Erickson, Barbara Meyer, Gloria Boettcher, Irene Sandvig; and a brother Harry Soberg.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 4th from 5-6:30 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Baudette, MN. A celebration of life will be held in early July in Argusville, ND. Online guest book at: www.helgesonfuneralhome.com
