Clarinda Stina Johnson, 52

Clarinda Stina Johnson, 52, died on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, in Karlstad, MN. Memorial service will be on Monday, June 21, 2021, at 11 AM in First Lutheran Church, Karlstad, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at First Lutheran Church, Karlstad, MN. Burial will be at Karlstad Cemetery, Karlstad, MN, at a later date. On October 1, 1968, Clarinda was born to Bennie and JoAnn (Cormier) Johnson at Grafton, ND. The family moved to Karlstad, MN, where she was raised and attended school in the Karlstad and Strandquist area. Graduating in 1988 from the Strandquist High School, Clarinda moved to the Minneapolis area to work as a nanny. She moved to Bemidji and worked at Nortech Systems and REM group home. Clarinda returned to Karlstad to be closer to the family as her health began to decline. While in Karlstad, Clarinda cared for many children in Karlstad. She loved children and had a special connection with them. Many of those who she cared for would call her “Auntie”. Being with friends and family was the joy of her life. Scrapbooking with her mother and, after her passing, Clarinda took over what she had started. In the past few years, she began painting rocks in memory of loved ones. Clarinda’s nieces and nephews were more than relatives; they were her family that created deep connections that will last forever. Clarinda is survived by her siblings- Bonnie (Paul Berggren) Johnson, Strandquist, MN, Bradley (Ann) Johnson, Karlstad, MN, Wade Johnson, Karlstad, MN, and Wendy (John Westman) Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN; stepbrothers and sisters—Dawn, Debbie, Todd, Rob, Kim, and Lisa; several nephews and nieces; uncle LeeRay Cormier and aunt, Elsie (Howard) Norman. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Arthur Nelson, and one niece, Amanda Oistad, and several aunts and uncles.
