Weigh 2 Change Lifestyle Change Program

Weigh 2 Change is a community-based lifestyle change program that offers education and support for people at risk for diabetes or people with prediabetes. People with prediabetes have blood sugars higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diabetes. Participants will meet with a certified National Diabetes Prevention Program lifestyle coach once a week for 16 weeks and then monthly for six months. The program is open to people who are at risk, have been diagnosed with prediabetes, and those who want to partcipate in order to learn lifelong lifestyle skills to stay healthy. Type 2 diabetes can be prevented or delayed with simple lifestyle changes: healthy eating and moderate exercise resulting in weight loss. There are about 86 million people in the U.S. who have prediabetes. Prediabetes often has no symptoms, however a simple blood glucose test will identify the condition. A simple CDC pre-diabetes risk test is available to determine your level of risk. Contact Patti at the Y to find out how to take the risk test and/or get a blood glucose test scheduled.
