Meet the Folks at The Exponent

 

Bruce Brierley

Bruce grew up in Western New York and came to the area to attend Concordia College where he graduated in 1982 with a BA degree in communications. He has lived in the Red River Valley since that time and met his wife of 20 years in Crookston. They have four children Peter, Amanda, Nicole, and Taylor.

Bruce has been with The Exponent since January of 2012. He is the Managing Editor at The Exponent, does page layout, as well as reporting and photography of sporting events and activities.

Linda Forseide

Linda has been happily married for for 43 years to the same wonderful man, and has two children, Sunday and John and four grandchildren, Jackson, Julia, Annabelle and Nolan.Linda was born in London, England and came over on the boat from the old country at just under a year. She grew up in East Grand Forks and graduated from Senior High…on to Moorhead Area Tech for Commercial Art.

Linda’s first job out of school was with the Grand Forks Herald in advertising as a graphic artist. She was there for 37 years.

Jaclyn Hicks

The Exponent is excited to announce Jaclyn Hicks as their new reporter. She lives in East Grand Forks with her husband and two adorable cats. They have been living here for just over a year, but have lived in the surrounding area almost their entire lives. In addition to having cats, Jaclyn and her husband are also expecting a little bundle of joy come November. They are very excited for embarking on the adventure of parenthood for the first time and look forward to meeting their little one. Among Jaclyn’s hobbies are playing piano and singing, playing video games, and running. She is quite active in her church, Grand City Station, where she plays on the worship team, and last year, she took part in her first 10K during the Wild Hog run in Grand Forks, ND. Jaclyn is currently a student at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, MN, taking online courses for a Master of Divinity, but is very excited to break into the realm of newspaper reporting.

Kim Mathiason

Kim Mathiason has become the newest member of the Exponent team as an advertising sales representative. Mathiason brings with her an extensive background in sales and customer service. As a self-described “people person,” she is eager to begin her new journey.

Born and raised in East Grand Forks, Mathiason’s relationship with the community spans decades, having lived in the community most of her life. Despite a couple of brief stints in larger U.S. cities in the past, she was eventually drawn back to her hometown to focus on her family.
